Tom Bise graduated from Crestline High School in 1963. He earned seven varsity letters; three in basketball, three in baseball and one in football. In basketball, Tom was the lead scorer his senior year with 366 points. He averaged 18.3 points per game with a high game of 26 points against Union. He had four games with over 20 points. Tom was All-JAC league his senior year. His junior year, Tom was the third highest scorer with a game high 25 points against Upper Sandusky.
In baseball, Tom pitched a no-hitter in the League Championship game against Lexington. Tom says during his senior season, the team defeated Mansfield Senior during the regular season and Mansfield Madison in tournament play. Although, baseball stats are difficult to obtain from those years, the following was found in Advocate archives. In the last regular season game against Ontario, Tom was the winning pitcher with a final score of 2-1. Tom had twelve strikeouts and only gave up three hits. Crestline’s coach, Stan Lammon, said at the time, “…one of the best high school contests I have seen…” The win made five in a row for CHS for a season record of 12-7, to lead the north division of the JAC. Tom batted .371, scored 16 runs and had 23 hits his senior year.
In football, Tom was honored with selection to the First Team All-JAC for his efforts as a defensive back his senior year. The team went 6-3-1 that year and were JAC Co-Champions. Tom was also the back-up quarterback that year and had to enter a game as QB against Bellville in the first quarter due to an injury. Tom scored his team’s only touchdown of the game.Last Updated on
